Welcome to EG Snooker

The East Grinstead and District Snooker League was founded towards the end of the Second World War and one of its major tournaments is indeed the Victory Cup named in honour of the Allied victory in 1945. The league was once a large scratch tournament divided into three divisions each contested by upwards of seventy players. Sadly numbers have dwindled to between sixty and seventy in total and it has proved necessary to change the format to a handicap league so that players of varying ability can compete for the title. Our archive currently contains records from 1981 to the present day with some gaps, these will gradually be processed and loaded onto this site. The current photographs are of the affiliated clubs: The Literary & Social Club, Queens Road, The Ex Services Club Railway Approach, The Forest Row Social Club Station Road, The Victoria Social Club in Lingfield.
