Guest Frames

                                                                                                            
Playing for other teams in the same club is permitted under Rule 6, which says:

During the same season:

a)       A player having been nominated by one Club shall not play for another Club.

b)       Once a player has played 3 times for the same team he is not allowed to play for any other team.

c)        Once a player has played for any team in a Cup Competition he may not play for any other team in any Cup Competition.

d)       No player may play for more than one team in the same week.
 
       The Committee may grant exceptions to these rules where unfairness and hardship may result and or where the integrity of the League could be brought into disrepute from their strict application.

       Notes: b) permits two frames to be played for other teams in the same club. Perhaps d) should be ‘in the same week’s fixtures’. This would prevent the intention of the rule being circumvented when a rearranged game is in a different calendar week.

 

                                                                          'Guest Frame' Appearances and Handicapping

The decision was taken (when it cropped up - no forward planning and therefore no forewarning for the player concerned) that the result of a ‘Guest Appearance’ frame would be included in that player’s sequence of results for handicap adjustments purposes. The unfortunate person concerned had won a frame the previous week for his team and then won his ‘Guest Appearance’ frame and was ‘penalised’ by having his handicap reduced by 4 points!  As the rule was a hindsight addition this seems somewhat unfair.

We are now in the position where a person can play twice for another team in the same club and lose them both to gain 4 points on his handicap. In fact in a club with lots of teams he can play twice for more than one team and really give himself a boost. There is no point in trying to win as you will only risk damaging your own handicap. Surely this nonsensical practice should be stopped? Play for your own team!
